THE DAYROOMS CAFE LAUNCH THEIR SECOND SITE IN HOLBORN

An Australian brunch specialist cafe that takes simple and seasonal produce and gives it a touch of Antipodean sunshine. August 2017: This autumn sees established boutique brand The Dayrooms launch their second food and beverage venture, The Dayrooms Cafe WC1.

The second site will have a stronger emphasis on take away with all produce on display on the marbletop counters and served in recyclable cardboard boxes. The venue will only use compostable and recyclable materials on site and have partnered with Australian brand Keepcup to sell their reusable hot drink cups. Customers will receive a complimentary hot drink on their first use if they buy a Keepcup in store, further to this customers bringing their own cups will also receive 10% off the price of their hot drink.

The menus will again be seasonal and take inspiration from the Australian Eastern coastline and thiswill be paired with the best local ingredients possible. The cafe is striving to be zero waste and for their opening they will be partnering with The Felix Project and donating leftover food each day to the charity which helps reduce food waste and food poverty.

Bountiful bowls of salads, plant and meat based proteins and Aussie brunch inspired quick breakfast options will span the two metre long Italian Carrara opal quartz countertop and will include fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes with roasted fruit, cherry poppyseed coconut waffles, confit trout with radish and herbs, grilled prawn tostadas and sticky sesame chicken.

Sandwiches are made fresh every morning on site using freshly baked sourdough bread and will include kangaroo, kimchi, pickled red onion, mayo and mac and cheese jaffles . Breakfast will move seamlessly to lunch with heartier dishes coming on the menu including burrata stuffed meatballs and poached ginger chicken in a fragrant broth.

Coffee is from Antipodean roasters Ozone Coffee Roasters and smoothies will be made inhouse and will include Super C with o range, raspberry, soy and green tea and The Green Smoothie with kale, spinach, cucumber, apple and ginger.

The bright and airy interiors have been created by Jack and Kiri of Trend and Fayre. Their inspiration came from the relaxed and natural dining environment of the Australian café scene and they have used products that really mirror that feel. To tie the design scheme to Notting Hill they reused many recognisable design features such as the hanging pendants, the grey split level walls, the shop front colour and the plants. To give the site its own identity they have used a handmade Moroccan patterned tile on the floor and painted the front of the service counter a striking blue green colour.

The Dayrooms Cafe was founded by Zumrud Mammadova who has always loved the Australian food scene - the way that life almost revolves around it, she wanted to bring that feeling to the UK. Caroline Viera, the cafe manager says, “we are extremely excited to be opening in Holborn and to share our fresh perspective on brunch with our customers. The venue is in a great location and we look forward to bringing our warm coastal sunshine vibes to residents and local office workers. Our menu is healthy but with also quite a few naughty treats as we all know life is about balance!”
