THE FIRST-EVER ROARSOME SUMMIT IS ANNOUNCED

FRIDAY 19 - SUNDAY 21 MAY 2023, POLZEATH, CORNWALL

A family celebration of the great outdoors, with talks and activities hosted by Waterhaul, Otter Surfboards, Tiny Travelship, Wild Warriors, Saunas by the Sea and many others.

ROARSOME is launching its first-ever ROARSOME Summit. Continuing the brand's mission to help families enjoy great outdoor adventures, whatever the weather, the event will gather families together in Polzeath, Cornwall from 19-21 May 2023, for three days of unforgettable coastal adventures.

The ultimate celebration of the great outdoors will be hosted by the ROARSOME’s founders, Ed Lewis-Pratt and Will Chapman. The duo have personally curated every aspect of the event to help families reconnect with one another, and the magic of the great outdoors.

Will Chapman, co-founder, ROARSOME said: “We’ve been dreaming of a ROARSOME Summit for a long time. It’s more than just an event. It’s the ultimate weekend of family adventure and play. A chance to disconnect from digital screens to build a lifelong love for the great outdoors.”

Inspired by research that revealed that children who play outdoors are more likely to want to cherish, and protect nature as adults the summit centres on the benefits of exploration and spending time outdoors. It brings to life the brand's mission, by curating opportunities for children and their parents to explore and become more curious about the world around them.

Ed Lewis-Pratt, co-founder, ROARSOME comments: “We’re excited to be launching our first ROARSOME Summit. The event is very much rooted in the insight that by helping families enjoy great outdoor adventures, we can inspire a love of nature and empower the next generation to care and do more to protect the planet, so we can keep the outdoors great.”

The programme:

The ROARSOME Summit will create fully immersive experiences with a programme bursting with adventure, play, live music and plenty of time outdoors:

A ROARSOME treasure hunt in partnership with the National Trust will be installed on the Pentire headland for families to enjoy throughout the weekend. It will remain in place to be enjoyed by locals and holidaymakers for the entire summer.

Otter Surfboards’s Build-Your-Own Handplane workshop* on Saturday 20th May.

A beach clean in Daymer Bay on Sunday 21 May, led by Waterhaul and Green Folk, to educate families on the impact of rubbish on the coastal environment.

Adults can relax and recharge at sunrise or sunset with Saunas by the Sea in Baby Bay, followed by a refreshing sea swim.

Families can hop aboard one of our ROARSOME American School Buses, which have been converted by Shred & Butta into the ultimate adventure cabins for family staycations.**

Surfers can book surf lessons* with the local surf school throughout the weekend, while aspiring David Attenboroughs can join dolphin spotting boat trips*

Local Cornish legend Bill Bartlett will host Big Beach Art Classes & Guided Walks on Saturday 20th May, where families can unleash their inner Picasso by raking large scale masterpieces in the sand on Polzeath Beach, captured with drone footage.

A kids beach club hosted by Wild Warriors will offer fun beach activities, including rock pooling, cave exploring and bush craft, as well as dedicated childcare for children aged between four and 12 years of age.

In the evenings, families are invited to turn up in their pyjamas for an engaging evening of bedtime stories, hosted by Bundle Bed designed to help children (and adults) wind down and get ready for a ‘roarsome’ night’s sleep.

Summit go-ers will also hear thought-provoking talks with a line-up of trailblazers and pioneers who support the brand’s mission on Saturday 20 May at Treyd Talks at Beach Farm Cafe. Confirmed speakers include: James Otter, the founder of Otter Surfboards, and Frankie Collinson and Becky Pennison-Bates, the founders of Tiny Travelship. The talk will be followed by live acoustic sets performed by local artists.

Polzeath, Cornwall, renowned for its remarkably unspoilt beaches and natural habitats has been chosen by ROARSOME as the location for the summit. Outdoor activities will take place on Polzeath Beach and Pentire headland, with camping, live music and talks hosted at Southwinds campsite and Beach Farm Cafe.

Families can choose to book a pitch to camp in Southwinds for the weekend, from £275 with the option to purchase a pre-erected luxury bell tent from Browning Bros for an additional cost. Guests also have the option to purchase day passes, from £125 for family tickets.
